Sierra Club Recognizes Texas Climate Scientist

At this year’s Earth, Wind, & Fire Summit, Lone Star Chapter officer David Griggs presented Dr. Katharine Hayhoe the Distinguished Service Award of the national Sierra Club. The annual award honors people in public service for long-term commitment to conservation. Dr, Hayhoe directs the federally funded Climate Science Center that is based at Texas Tech University.

The national awards ceremony took place September 15 in Oakland CA. Dr. Hayhoe could not attend that event. After she presented the keynote address at Earth Wind and Fire Energy Summit II, Dr. Hayhoe graciously accepted the award.
